    If I am truly in a bad or sad mood, no amount of jollying will lift me up. If I'm feeling poopy 'cause things aren't going my way, a change of tide will fix me right up. I think my mood changes are more often weekly, but in general, I'm usually in a pretty good mood.

    hmm, I take that back... my bad mood if its from irritation or anger generally will last hours or so. But when things are bad, like illness, losing a pet or something, the mood takes longer to pass. I think that's pretty normal, no?

    sometimes it depends on the cause and severity of the mood. Sometimes just a reality check or a shift in perspective will get me out of it. If I'm dwelling it helps to have someone distract me or snap me out of it. But if I'm grumpy because i'm sick/tired/hormonal or if I'm really upset about something it can wreck the day. Sometimes I have to sleep on it to recover myself.

    Depends If I'm really pissed, I just need to be left alone to calm down and then I'll usually come back later and be fine. But if someone keeps messing with me, I just get more silent and pissed. If it's sad, people can usually cheer me up with jokes or candy or booze or just being supportive. If it's a major sad, like a broken heart or death, then it'll come back, but it all serves to remind me that there are good things in life and happiness.

    I honestly think of myself as moody but apparently I seem very calm & even tempered to others. I do get ticked off at things - and frustrated at things that are in my way - but not so much at people. I do get bad moods - and when someone tells me to take a deep breath, I HATE it. But if they let me be for a few minutes, I will almost always get over it quickly on my own. Generally, though, I'm by myself when I have a real meltdown - and it's usually over something relatively trivial, like a computer snafu - and I will yell until I realize I'm upsetting my dog. That's usually the best way to stop my bad mood - my dog. Since when I have a bad mood, she's usually the only one around! Depression is another matter - I've struggled with that on and off throughout my life. It's usually longer-lived and harder to shake than anger, but loving care from another human is a good way to help me with depression. And, yeah - my dog helps with that, too. All animals help with that.

    moods... my bad mood needs to run its course. there comes a point when i realize i've been sour too long, and that's when i try to turn it around. my moods can change rather quickly. my dogs cheer me up. also, there's a spot on my drive where some ducks hang out, and they always cheer me up when i see them out and about.

    I used to be easy to cheer up but these last few years of working nights have taken their toll. It really takes some effort now to get me out of a funk, and often I find myself pulling down the moods of the people around me instead of being buoyed up by them.
