Fellow San Diegans? Anybody want to adopt a good looking, blue-eyed, long-haired siamese cat? I caught the feral cat who showed up in my yard two days ago and bit my kid and dropped him off at the animal shelter for a ten day hold to see if he develops rabies. If not, I can have him fixed & vaccinated and deliver him to your door. Um... he bites. But is gorgeous & perhaps was just hungry and stressed. I've never had an animal euthanized before. So I feel guilty and responsible since I'm the one who trapped him. On the other hand, we got off on the wrong foot with the biting a family member thing and I don't think he would integrate well with the rest of my menagerie. He has no collar, & no microchip. Would appreciate advice. Or perhaps you have a farm and need an outdoor rat catcher with attitude.

He is loud as holy hell. I don't mind paying for the fix and release, but I would rather release him somewhere that isn't near my yard and poultry. Good idea.

do you know a good no kill shelter? I would think a person with your medical background would be pretty desirable as a volunteer. They are generally OK with a person dropping off an animal especially if the person writes them a little check or donates a day or so. New York City is trying to move to all no kill in 10 years. Of course some shelters are better than others.

that is the Siamese part they talk a lot! Often dog like in mannerisms. We had one that protected our property better than the dog we owned. I bet he could be placed easily-though most people keep Siamese cats indoors these days! If actually long haired it would likely be identified as a Himalayan-although it could just be part Siamese. Is the snout long like a Siamese or flat face like a Persian?

siames.e is correct for the breed or pisces, or gemini - anything that suggests a dual personality. i had one in my home for 18 years. it was my partner's cat so it was family. i am a dog person. however, i do believe that that cat had the best revenge. i had a doberman, a border collie, and a boxer which were all younger than the cat. the dogs all passed due to old age and/or age related illnesses as ages, 11, 16, 11, respectfully. the best revenge for that cat was outliving them all.

try this One of my cats bit my son years ago, when she was still feral...we had to do the whole rabies shots thing too. Trapped her and now she sleeps on my pillow. Spiteful little demon that she is...

Gorgeous little cat. Our other two cats started out as strays, and the one is now the ultimate housecat. I've never rehabbed a boy kitty though, and the two girls look at him with some sort of fear or disdain. Also, he's been an unfixed boy long enough to learn how to howl and spray. Does that get better with fixing? I can't see leaving him at the humane society to put down. I guess I will try to take him home if he doesn't have rabies and see what happens. I hadn't wanted a third.

i'm sure you'd be able to find a home for a siamese. Exceptionally pretty cats are easier to rehome. I agree that he was likely stressed, and somehow I doubt he's feral. Stray, abandoned or lost/runaway maybe, but surely not born wild. As such, I think he deserves a chance to live a housecat's life again. Wild cats live maybe two or three years, a short and brutal life. Maybe a rescue would take him?

its a process must be done slowly and carefully. But I would bet that the neutering does help with attitude and spraying (but no guarantees). I thought I did such a dumb thing by bringing Babykitty home. The last thing I needed was another cat. But but but....oh, I just did. And then didnt think she would adjust or the others would adjust to her but now they ALL get along beautifully and she is so good. Answers to her name, comes when ed and no behavioural issues. And she has wormed her little way into My heart as well. I am so sure that the Siamese will too. But er. maybe keep a spray bottle close by just in case. And ear plugs ! ;-)

I'd start a meet up group but no one would show....we'd all be cleaning litter boxes,feeding, grooming, entertaining, and otherwise doing the bidding of our cats.

we could combine forces with the procrastinators and have a pot luck! no-shows always welcome ; )
