Thinking about evolution of people And where we're headed if civilization stays for the long haul. Some of our genes, I'd imagine, don't fit well when it comes to civilization. We still have those Pleistocene throwbacks. Like obesity. But I think there's other traits that, over time, will be bred out from civilization: Boredom when doing a repetitive or mundane task, bipolar disorder, being hungry when fat, claustrophobia, antisiness. As people become more urbanized (and packed even closer together), as the skills required to survive become even more minute and specialized (and boring) some people won't surive. And maybe it's for the best.

I disagree I think creativity comes with its own co-habits. Creative people are usually mentally ill people, and the world of the future will have no place for the mentally ill. Not a rule, the creativity itself will be valued, and the people who can keep whatever illness at bay will reap the benefits for filling that role in society, but I think over a very long time, those same genes will cause a slight disadvantage compared to the adjusted, sober, unimaginative person. Take the Chinese. Civilization for centuries, more so than any other culture. And the Chinese are some of the most unimaginative people I know.

Are they? Eastern culture doesn't have novels? They may not be as prominent, granted, but they do count for something in their culture.

The communist regime squelched that pretty much. They always respected tradition in China but there was a lot more creativity.
