i completely agree and feel sorry for those who have sunk so deep into a way of thinking that they cannot see past their own need to think of themselves as "super kinky" and refuse to experience making love to the person with whom they share their heart.

I think where the difference is that you are talking about is the actual nature of the relationship . Someone with a comitted partner in a secure relationship are going to look at it completly different then someone who is in a purely sexual relationship .

i think some of those here who seem to despise the terminology would say that they are in a secure relationship with a committed partner, or at least from what i can gather, they appear to be.

Sure of course it can . What two people in a comitted relationship do they may consider making love . Where as if its just a friend with benifits or not your primary partner that same act may not be viewed that way .Your feelings regarding the person you are doing the act with is what defines "Making love" to me .

That's the way I view the term as well. Plain, vanilla missionary sex with out an emotional bond, is just sex, not making love. Whatever the sexual act with someone you love is making love. To me, the term refers not to the individual act, but to the bond between participants.

Urban dictionary seems to define it the same way "Sex with emotional significance. Often characterized by tenderness, caressing, etc. Sex as ultimate physical manifestation of romantic love. The opposite of fucking. Often used in romance novels for dramatic effect. We made love, and afterward he held me for the longest time."

But you are using a website that is defined by individuals defining what they believe the term to be, to them. Not a group of linguistics that clearly define a universal meaning. It seems strange that the definition used is subject to the same issues we are having here, personal experience defining the word. For me, love making is a deep emotional connect shared between two or more people during the act of sex. If I enter this into urban dictionary will it now be the true definition? No.

But if we accept similar definitions Kink terms, right out of the same collection, why not now? Perhaps because it doesn't match YOUR definition? If we were discussing the term "salad tossing" it would be a perfectly acceptable source.....just sayin'

I have always taken urban dictionary for what it is, a reference to the world of kink, but not the definitive knowledge of the topic. If you scan through all of the definitions, there will be variable changes in the basic meaning.
