Child Support I have a couple of questions about child support. First some background: I am currently going back to school to get my masters and work only part time. I have one year left and financially I am going to have to borrow money from family to finish. My stb ex makes a significant amount of money for Montana (6-figures) and I will make about half of what she does when I am done with school. I can most likely survive with out any child support but I think I would be living paycheck to paycheck and have a significantly lower standard of living. I want to be able to afford to have some things to do with the girls. Most of them inexpensive such as rafting, fishing, and camping. We have both currently agreed that we will have joint custody with 50/50 time with the girls. Is having a relatively close standard of living something that should be evaluated in child support? Part of me wants nothing from her, the other part wants to make sure the don't wants to be at Mom's house more because she has a nicer place and things. Probably not a problem right now (my girls are 6 and 3 yrs old), but when they are teens I could see a problem.

Aheemmm To tell you what the guys out on this forum would tell the women who ask for child support: Get another fucking job and quit your Masters program. Why does she owe you money when you have 50/50 custody, what the fuck, is she your personal ATM machine? She is the one that works hard for her money, not you, why do you think you are entitled to the sweat off of her back?

Why should it be different for male and females? The masters degree has one year left and I will make that happen no matter if I get child support or not. It will also make it so I have more stability in my job and earn more in the long run. I have mixed feelings on this. I don't really want anything from her, but I do want what is best for my . I truly believe that if the tide was turned then I would want to pay if it was what is best for my . By the way I work very hard in my job, usually more hours than she does. It is just that our professions (financial consultant vs. environmental scientist)have a large discrepancy in pay scales. So it is not about getting something from her it is what is best for my .

It shouldn't....but it is.... The point for her/him responding this way towards your post is because 99% of the men on this forum would have responded that way IF you were female. Women on here get bashed DAILY for expecting/needing child support. I don't think the reply was specifiy meant towards you. I think it was more to make a point that the views of child support on this board are skewed depending if the OP is male or female.

Personally Would be great if you two could work out an arrangement where she helps you out when you need it, my ex and I take care of each other whenever the other needs it, it is in the best interest of our child for us both to be financially secure. Sorry, I was only expressing the sentiment that some of these people show towards women. I am sure, that because you are man, they will all be on your side.

Awww Punkin Wrong, and I bullshit on the "Mom gets leeway if she is going after her masters". That is a crock. And Dear, I could get a proposal every day, it is men like you that turn me off to the idea. :)

Incorrect..... I saw a post in here where a single mom was working part time and going to school to get her degree. Her ex had quit paying child support. Nearly EVERY man on this forum told her to get a full time job, another job, stop going after his hard-earned money, support herself, etc.

I am paying for school myself I am going to pay for school myself. I will take our a loan and she will have nothing to do with it. I don't need her help for my personal expenses, but when it comes to the I believe we should share in the expenses based on what our earning ability. At this time she probably makes 40 -50 thousand more than me a year I pay the childrens health insurance and the daycare checks come from my work. I want the agreement to look at what I should make when I am done with my masters not what I am doing now. I am not asking for a handout I am asking for us to share in the responsibility of the expenses the same way we have while we were married.

You are right & you will receive some CS until you get a degree, then stipulate it will be modified after you get a job.
