anyone around that deals with *psoriasis?* i am having some difficulties of late and would like suggestions of remedies...docs are of no help anymore. tried everything under the sun: steroids, tpoicals, pills...someone suggested to me the other day *claritin..* anyone else heard of this? the itching is enough to drive me through the roof!! thanks, folks. webMD is of no help to me, either...*disappointed*

well, there's a particular diet... I'm not sure if age makes a difference, but I'd worked with children with medical and/or behavioral issues for years. Some have been put on the Wheat-free/Gluten-Free/Casein-free diet.... most have psoriasis, and it tends to clear up about 3-6 weeks after the diet starts. These are where very pill, ointment and steriod have already been pumped through their system. Warning, the diet tastes like an ass-dirt combo. It's a very strict diet, going off (even for a meal) isn't recommended. Go, google your heart out on this one and see how you feel about it.

Yeah, it's a little extreme And most were placed on the diet for behavioral/medical issues... clearing up the skin (reducing the itching) was just a side effect. But it works beautifully! Either way, good luck!

wow, that's really interesting One of my was on a gluten free, dairy free, egg free (soy free!) diet for about five years. He developed his first bout of psoriasis while on the diet (though it's possible that he was cheating at the time). It's very possible to eat tasty food that's GFCF, but you have to be creative. It helps if you learn how to bake GFCF, but that isn't entirely necessary.

Aveeno lotion was a godsend for my gf

hmmm... that's one i've never tried... i have it mostly on my scalp, which is a pain in my ass. ha. seriously tho, it makes it harder to use topicals, for my hair gets all nasty and greasy...i'm starting to present with other patches on my torso and it's seriously bumming me out...i have found this *stuff* for i'm not sure it's a lotion, it's more grease-like, that i can rub into the area and sleep with a beanie on seems to help for a little while, x-x days. :-/ just starting to bug me, is all.

I think aveeno now has a lnie of products....don't know if they have shampoo, but wouldn't surprise me if they did.

My kiddo has Exzema, which is always worse in the winter months. I am aware that these arevery different things,but, the Aveeno has helped him tremendously. Aveeno kicks much ass.... And they do have a line of all sorts of goodies. AND, as a bonus, they smell good too!
