Broom, what happens to the fines and penalites that corporations pay for their wrongdoing? Does is fund something specific or just go into the SEC coffers? Do you know?

the federal gov funds the SEC so, eventually it does go back to them....but their budget is approved by a joint house/senate committee (i think anyway) so the more money they get from 'wrong doers' the greater their next years budget it is. it sets up bad incentives actually
