Calling all crafty/artsy/sewing folk! I have this ginormous tshirt that I love to death, but can't wear because the collar is far too tight for me. Knowing how crafty/sewing projects and I go together (or rather don't), I was wondering if I just cut off the collar will the whole t-shirt just unravel the minute I throw it in the wash? Would I have to make a new collar/hem it? Anyone have any other crafty ideas for a tshirt? Thanks in advance.

can you just slit the collar so it gives you room but doesnt remove the entire collar? There are places that deconstruct clothes, there's probably a ton of stuff you can do with it. What do you like about it? If it is an image, when I was a kid my brother had all these tee shirts he liked but never wore. I cut out the images and made pillows out of them.. he kept them on his bed forever. They were all cars and stuff like that.

It's my anti-war shirt. I'd love to wear it a bit more often, and it seems like it could be "punked" up a bit and not suffer; and was wondering if I could do anything to it without having to sew. This is so my brother's dept, not mine. I'd never thought of just slitting the collar, thx 'n0mer. Do you know of any sites offhand, by chance?

it will be fine! you can cut it off and it will have a raw edge, but it wont unravel. i did that to a cute top because it was a weird turtleneck and because i cut it really carefully, no one can even tell! im sure itll be great.

you could take it to someone with a serger and have them sew a line of pretty thread along the cut - this way it will be sure not to unravel, and it'll look more punky.

There is a screen printer in the crowd or take it to one of your local shops and have a few printed for yourself. You can also do it on the web. I did some for a regatta I had, they were good shirts, the design set up was free and the minimum order was minimum.

could you just make a small V in the front of the neck...maybe do a large hand stitch on the v part..

rolls, does not fray,cut st down the middle as low as you want, like a v-neck, but you do not need to remove the material in a tee shirt, it will roll out if the way. Any t I wear is cut, I cannot stand the tightness on my throat
