anyone have any tips for throwing a quirt? TC and I had some fun with one last week (heh!) and while I felt pretty comfortable with it I in general, I did have a bit of a learning curve to deal with. In particular, since the falls are much stiffer than those of a floggers and flat, I had to be careful of the orientation before impact to make sure they landed 'square'. Also, they would occasionally like to double up on the handle forcing me to straighten it out and breaking my rhythm. Other than keeping my arm straight(er), anyone have any thoughts on this?

Oh yes, I remember now Match worked me over one night. Fond memories. They take a lot of work. I am not sure if he or I were beat up after, I think he almost passed out from the effort. Sorry, no tips, but once again, I am jealous of t_c

being snowed in last week didn't completely suck She did (in the best way!) but the experience did NOT.

It sure did for me And not in a good way. All my amp projects were on hold for parts, but they could not be delivered. No one to kink with. Dr. Ong did suggest the possible of some rope sessions, but I am not comfortable alone with him yet. I need some rope lessons, I have been asked to top for a cod sub scene, I need a tie that stresses one to prevent stress on the other.

I can think of lots of great groups on fet to ask..I don't know about these parts...It's so random these days.

SF Citadel group, those folks know what they are doing. I was going to also possibly suggest this man who teaches single tail near me and very knowledgeable but I went to his profile and he recently posted pictures of him and his partners recent blood play and that's as far as I got. Its still too early in the morning (slept late and still in bed) for that!

break it in I mean you're going to need to soften up the falls a bit. You could just hit a pillow a lot or maybe try bending them and working them in your hands to soften them up a little. Other than that, my experience with the quirt is that the hits are done more like a crop than a flogger. More like slapping a few times then rest. Not like the way you can make a lot of successive hits with a flogger before breaking.

that's almost how it was falling.... more like a slapper. Very stiff falls. Thick leather. IDK how much these would really soften, but once I figured out how to get them to land properly, it was a really cool tool. You're right about how much you can use it. With a flogger you can go on and on, but not withof these. You have to limit it's use more like the riding whip or cane. Not like you've heard from her about it or anything. :P
